The burrito battle: New project from Saddle-Rickshaw gang opens
New burrito joint Side Saddle is open beside Ciro’s on the south side of Nali Studio. Patrons can “maketheir own” burritos (RMB40 each) by choosing two meat fillings (beef, chicken, blackened fish, etc) as well as from a dozen “greens” (lettuce, tomato, etc), nine sauces, and four extras (rice, beans, cheese, and sour cream).
Imagine Subway, except with burritos. And a friendly manager named Luis.
Just as with burgers, it wasn’t that long ago that we had few options when it came to burritos. Now the choices in Sanlitun alone include The Rickshaw*, Saddle, Saddle Up, Luga’s, and Luga’s Villa – all of them spin-offs in one way or the other from the original Saddle. It’s competitive out there…
I’ll post the results of a taste-test soon.
