A Somewhat Young China Hand on the Local Drinking Scene

Attention Anglo-Francos: La Fite British Exotic Bar opens today

Seemingly designed to appeal to the Anglo-Franco crowd, La Fite: British Exotic Bar is set to open just south of Sanlitun Soho. In the old Candle Bar spot. A few meters from Looking Bar. Across way from the former Phil’s Pub. On the street squeezed between Workers Stadium East on one side and Sanlitun South on the other. At the south end of what once used to be Sanlitun south bar street. If that isn’t clear enough, if you are at Q Bar, go west and hang a right at the first corner. Or if you are at the old Rickshaw, go south, hang a right at the first alley and then follow the dog-leg until you reach the bar. Or… well, if you can’t find it after that, just drink a bottle of Tsingtao on the street.

Anyway, expect a somewhat Stilton-Brie experience given the combo of antique-style sofas, oil paintings, karaoke machine, and stand-up bar. Meanwhile, the rooftop is completely toned down: think Astroturf and wicker chairs. The owner seems like a friendly enough bloke and says the range of beers will include Erdinger (RMB45), Hoegaarden (RBM40), and Corona (RMB30) as well as the usual spirits. The place opens for business at 8 PM.
