Update: George Zhou says Beijing Touch will be open tonight (July 5) at 9 PM.
Beijing Touch, the newest by George Zhou — owner of George’s Bar at Workers Stadium and formerly at Q Bar, Midnight Cafe and First Cafe — is tentatively slated to “soft open” on Friday. I’ll post an update on the opening status on Friday afternoon given that such dates, like domestic airline departure times, tend to be hit and miss. (I’ll also update on Weibo here, Facebook here and Twitter here.)
A tour last night — finished off with a tasty Negroni – showed this ambitious project close to completion. In short, Touch Beijing has a large open space divisible into a main lounge and a private area via a sliding wall. Each area has its own bar – the photos below show a fraction of the bigger one — and two bathrooms while another small private room has its own facilities. Add a stage with house piano and drums and a narrow outdoor area and you have, well, an ambitious project. Plenty of space and texture, mirrored surfaces and funky lighting, nooks and crannies and comfy seating.
Below are some photos from last night, when I was having fun with my puny Canon IXUX 220 HS and the lighting. There is obviously more to this place than shown below so don’t judge it on my photography skills!
More on Touch Beijing soon…
