Remodoled: Modo reopens as a deli today at 6 PM

modo deli sanlitun village beiing china-001Modo is at long last re-opening in Sanlitun Village months after being forced to remove its second floor by property management at the formerly named Swire Sanlitun Village, presently named Taikoo Li Sanlitun and, if the sentiments of the tenants I talk to are taken into account, one day profanely named venue across from Sanlitun Soho. The new one-floor Modo will serve as a deli with a small cafe area up front, restaurant-style seating along the side and a menu that includes soups, sandwiches, cheese and meat plates, olives, and much more. The official opening is at 6 PM on June 18 and the menu highlights include:

  • Modo burgers, made with a mix of pork and beef (rmb85)
  • A veggie burger that includes melted goat cheese (rmb68)
  • Five pasta options, including beef lasagna (rmb75)
  • Cheese, ham, and terrine plates (from rmb55)
  • Crispy pork belly (rmb128)
  • Cold Thai noodle salad with skirt steak or chicken breast (rmb68) plus four other salad options
  • Wine by the glass from rmb38 and over a dozen bottle options at rmb300 or less, with 30 percent off for takeout
  • Plenty of smoothies at rmb38 and teas at rmb28
  • Rickshaw Roasters coffee from rmb20

Enjoy those items as takeaway, outside on the patio or inside under the nice big new chandelier. For fuller details, see the complete food menu here and drinks menu here.
