Sips & bites: Art & Wine on Friday night, plus Beer Geeks Festival, Salt, The Hockey Bar & Dognuts

Montrose, China Wines & Spirits, East Meets West, ASC and Hihey are teaming up for an “Art and Wine” event at Crowne Plaza Sun Palace on May 30. Some forty wines will be available for tasting as patrons nibble appetizers, peruse sculptures and appear cultured. From 6 PM to 9 PM, 50 kuai, see poster below.

The First Beijing Beer Geeks Festival, slated for 1 PM to 9 PM on June 15, now has a venue (48 Xihai Nanyan) and a poster (see below). Beer samples are 10 kuai, full samples 30 kuai and you can pre-buy 150 kuai worth of tickets for 100 kuai. For more info on the event and the seven participating breweries, see the poster below.

SALT is kicking off its Saturday summer barbecues this weekend: get a free flow of food from the grill, plus self-serve salads, breads, sauces and more, from noon to 4 PM on June 1. Drink options include free flow beer and wine at 150 kuai and caipirinhas at 60 kuai per glass or 240 kuai per pitcher. Camila Betin is the new executive chef at SALT.

The Hockey Bar is tentatively scheduled to drop the puck on June 8, just in time for some Stanley Cup finals action. You can find it beside The Irish Volunteer in Lido.

And I can’t help resist posting this image of Dognuts: Hot Dogs and Donuts, spotted by Dewey Cox in Sanlitun Soho. Perhaps it is a joke / nod to Jackie Martling? If not, this brand is set to launch a billion puerile jokes. (Anyone want some cream-filled dognuts?)
