Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome aboard Flight 80F on Air Atmosphere. We will be boozing at an altitude of 330 meters. The skies are clear, we expect no turbulence and the seat belt signs are off. In fact, first officer and chief bartender Henning Neufeld has disconnected them and is making our fourth tray of B-52s up here in the captain’s cabin. We couldn’t fly this plane if we wanted to. I suggest you request beverages from the flight crew, get into the aisles and — pardon the expression — partay. First officer Neufeld will be taking cocktail requests throughout the flight. I recommend the Aviation. Finally, if you wish to become a member of the 330-Meter Club, we ask you to leave the lavatories in an appropriate condition for your fellow passengers. Enjoy your flight.
Atmosphere Bar — on the eightieth floor of Beijing’s 330-meter China World Summit Wing — will hold its third annual party dedicated to all things airline. AIR Atmosphere is scheduled for liftoff at 9 PM on June 29 and will include models dressed as a flight crew, bar staff doing airline-y things and a live performance by The Jackson Twins. The flight costs rmb200 and includes a free shooter as you enter Air Atmosphere. I suggest you pack light. And try this Alfonso Special by bartender Henning Neufeld.
Note 1: You know what would make this party even better? If former Beijing band Big Airplane, a staple at Durty Nellie’s years and years ago, did a few songs. I know at least two band members are still around…
Note 2: I ate the first burger ever at this place. It’s a fact. The place officially opened at 6 PM, I showed up at noon, the kitchen was ready, the burger entered my body. I also had an Old-Fashioned by then Atmosphere bartender Charly Kusagsizoglu.
