Redstar is organizing two “Whose Line Is it Anyway?” shows with four English comedians who will apparently make you laugh so hard your guts fall out and create a huge mess that some poor ayi has to clean up just because you can’t keep your guts in while laughing. Does that sound like fun? If so, catch the shows at 7:30 PM on May 21 at Paddy’s Irish Bar and May 22 at Beer Mania. Tickets are rmb300 via info (at) redstarworks.com or rmb350 at the door. Want to know just how funny they might be? They are billed as “amazingly inventive”, “surreal brilliance”, “comedy without a safety net”, “guerrilla theatre”, way better than the U.S. TV show of the same name, and “very very funny”. Like I said: Laugh. Guts. Out. Ayi. Tragic.
Mini burger joint 3sums, on the same strip as Home Plate BBQ and a block back of Kro’s Nest on Xiaoyun Road, is open but with limited food hours the first month. Get your trio of burgers — hence the name 3sums — 11 AM to 2 PM and 6 PM to 9 PM, Monday to Saturday, says chef Zach Lewison. Drinks served until late.
Fubar plans a couple of menu changes. Re food, it will add a monster hot dog: these puppies will measure 30 centimeters / a foot and can feed a family of four. Re drinks, it will add some “Fubeer” that will only be available at this Workers Stadium establishment. More soon.
Finally, it is hard to out-shuck Starfish for oyster quality in Beijing and you can now enjoy them on the front patio. Those seeking an after-work indulgence can get oysters — as well as house wine and beer — at 25 kuai each during happy hour from 5 PM to 7 PM.
