Sips & bites: Great Leap chili cook-off, plus Cantina Agave, Mao Mao Chong, Fez, Cuju, Saveurs de Coree

Beans, beef and beer this Saturday as Great Leap Brewery holds its second Back Alley Chili Cook-Off. The winner gets rmb888, the “people’s choice” gets rmb388 and patrons get 15 chili samples and a beer for rmb100. From 2 PM to 5 PM.

Cuju not only has an ever-increasing range of rums but also is delivering value on Thursday night cocktails. Most drinks on the menu, plus some new creations made on the spot, are rmb30.

Korean restaurant Saveurs de Coree will do a BBQ and beer night April 15 at its Xiang’er Hutong spot. A plate of grilled meat and free flow De Koninck is rmb100, 6 PM to 10:30 PM.
