Stuff your face in Sanlitun: Le Petit Gourmand launches daily rmb68 lunch and rmb98 dinner buffets

le petit gourmand tongli studio buffet (7)Le Petit Gourmand has flipped its food philosophy and gone from an a la carte approach to one focused almost solely on buffet. LPG plans a daily lunch and dinner buffet — weekends included — for rmb68 and rmb98 respectively, with each meal to include not only 90 food options but also free-flow beer and soda. Customers can tack on a steak or a glass of wine at rmb10. There are also bottle options, including a Guigal at a very reasonable rmb168, and discounts on cocktails for those opting for the buffet. See the poster here or below for more details.

I stopped by last night during the trial run and sampled about a dozen items, from sashimi to black pepper beef, chicken wings to tomato shrimp, pizza to beetroot salad. While some fine-tuning is still to come — for example, the skewers were bland — the overall quality was decent and, if maintained, will make this buffet one of the better values in the area.

Even better, LPG isn’t some over-lit cookie-cutter venue but a well-lit and relatively cozy one, especially if you can grab seats on the covered balcony, although what happens when the place fills to capacity — 150 — with gorging dinners is yet to be seen.

In any case, I only visited for a few minutes last night but will soon return to fully check out the buffet.
