For those who can simultaneously tipple and type: The Beijing edition of Time Out magazine is seeking a nightlife editor to interview DJs, review bars and clubs, compile events and venue listings, and write blog posts, among other things.
“Organisation is paramount, as is the ability to write entertaining, informative copy,” states Time Out, and adds that candidates should know the city’s bar and club scene, be outgoing and be able to liaise with event promoters. Chinese-language skills are beneficial though not required. Also, there is no need for people who plan to simply interview and write about their friends’ bars and clubs since we already have more than enough such coverage in Beijing.*
Benefits include monthly salary, 45 days of paid holidays, expenses when reviewing venues, and a rmb330 food stipend each month.
To apply, send a CV, cover letter and 500-word sample review (using Time Out’s style) of a new Beijing bar (Word or rtf format) to James Wilkinson at jamesw.timeout (at) gmail.com. The deadline is February 20. Click here for full details.
