Sips & bites in Sanlitun Soho: MOQ Wines, SAQI Water World, Mystery Bar

A quick post about three spots seen while walking about Sanlitun Soho last week.

MOQ is on the B1 level, south side, and is better organized than the average wine shop in the area. The focus is French and there are small displays with information boards for six major regions, including Bordeaux, Burgundy and Languedoc. The place had a class going on when I visited. I’ll return again and get more details.

SAQI Water World is just a few meters away. There are options from Canada, the United States, France, Czech, Russia, Fiji and many more places — the staff says SAQI has over 100 brands. That tops the 46 I spotted in a BHG a few years ago. Get more details here.

Finally, this new bar — as of yet nameless — on the first floor of building 5 has a bit of a poor man’s LAN feel, given the furniture and picture frames, as well as a baby grand piano and stools that might better fit a roadhouse. As I passed, I heard someone singing opera and the sound echoed through a building otherwise empty save for a pair of badminton players knocking about a bird. Party! Will return to check the menu..
