Wagas has built quite a reputation over the past few months, no doubt aided by its next-door neighbor and major rival, Element Fresh, being closed during that same time. Meanwhile, Bar Veloce in 1949: The Hidden City has expanded to lunch. Look for set menus from 11 AM to 2 PM and a la carte options from 11 AM to 12:30 PM, says manager Krishna Hathaway. The lineup includes new salads, bruschettas and desserts, and will be available daily, including weekends.
Finally, Back Alley Bistrot is slated to open on October 9, north of Workers Stadium and just off Xingfucun Middle Road. Yes, I know a slated opening has already passed but owner Jeff Powell — showing his moves above — says he is 90 percent sure this time.
