Blue Frog fans in Beijing know that new branches are christened with opening parties in support of Operation Smile. For example, the opening party held last March for the branch near You-Town raised more than rmb35,000, based on a rmb100 entrance fee for adults and rmb50 for children.
An impressive number, but one easily surpassed at the opening party last Friday for the Indigo branch in Lido. More than 700 people showed up for that bash and the result was more than rmb63,000 raised for Operation Smile.
It was also the last major event for Greg Dover, who has handled the Sanlitun branch and helped open the two new outlets, and who will soon leave our fair city. Dover, who has had stints in other Beijing bars and restaurants, including Bar Blu and Room Beijing.
