Expect a hootenanny on August 24 when Tim’s Texas BBQ marks its fifth year near the Silk Market, said owner Tim Hilbert tonight when I stopped by for a July 4 howdy. With the closing of Mexican Wave and Take 5 down the street — the latter should soon move near TGI Fridays — Tim’s ranks among the veterans in this part of town.
I still remember in late 2006 when the original Tim’s opened beside Sequoia Cafe, in the current Casa Brasil space, and quickly packed the house due to its brisket. People went nuts for the stuff.
Anyway, August 24 is plenty of time to book the night for a party that will have lots of free drinks and eats, says Hilbert, and should go into the wee hours of the morning.

free drinks and eat !? Im coming if I am not in Shanghai :)
i have fond memories of when the other location got shut down in 2010
