So, I saw this older topless guy tossing metal bricks in Shuangjing yesterday…

It was yesterday and he was older, grey-haired, pony-tailed and very fit. He repeatedly tossed a large metal “brick”, complete with a handle, into the air and caught it, then did other strength and flexibility tricks, all to slightly ominous music that would fit into a martial arts movie. For some reason it made me think of 55 Days in Peking.

This scene felt surreal given the passing traffic, the gawking residents and tourists, the skateboarders zippingĀ  past, the general hubbub of a main street on a busy day. Not to mention this rock band was playing less than ten meters away:

And this prime example of “WTF!?” was even closer:

Yes, there are times when too much stuff is happening in Beijing for my tiny brain to grasp. Anyway, here are a few more shots of the man in yellow pants. Given the number of people putting bills into his donation box, he was the most popular guy in Shuangjing yesterday.
