Sanli-tour: Most excellent newbie bar crawl of Pavillion, 99 Degrees, Q Mex tonight

Two-for-one cocktails, right here, right now? Don't twist my arm.

So many awesome new places opening in Beijing, so little time to visit them.

But perhaps you might combine three of them in one pub crawl tonight and not only have lots of fun but also be able to tell everyone you were among the first to try them. The details….

Pavillion Grill

This place is doing two-for-one drinks tonight — actually, right now — as part of its pre-opening: get two drinksĀ  for rmb58 to rmb68, depending on what you order, and thus a good chance to try some house cocktails while chilling on the awesome patio. This place also has Slow Boat brew.

The deal goes from now until about 10 PM, and Chef Billy Bolton says he will also be circulating some nibbles.

As for cocktails, here are a few of the cocktails, including some created by consultant Bob Louison:

  • Vieux Carre: Cognac, rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, Dom Benedictine liqueur, and both Angostura and Peychaud bitters.
  • Lavender-Cucumber: Gin, Grand Marnier, fresh giner, cucumber and lemon juice, lavender syrup, orange bitters
  • Kentucky Blossom: Maker’s Mark, cherries, fresh mint, vanilla and homemade cinnamon syrup
  • Head in the Cloud: Hennessy VSOP Cognac, Grand Marnierr, dried orange, fresh apple, vanilla, cinnamon, black pepper, sugar, ginger and bitters

99 Degrees

I wrote about this two-floor bar earlier this week here. Drinks are priced at rmb70 tonight and you can enjoy them in the bar proper or on the spacious rooftop. Accessible via the By the Tree stairwell at the back of the youth hostel, near The Tree entrance.

Q Mex

I just posted about this place. It is not officially open, but I there is a good chance you can buy a drink or two if you stop by. If not, there is always rmb50 big bottles of Samuel Smith on the Nanjie balcony…

With that, I’m off to The Pavillion patio for a drink…
