End of The Loop
A twist of fate for The Loop as this Shuangjing restaurant will soon move to Sanlitun and reopen as The Loop Kitchen and Wine. Since day one, I have been a huge fan of this space (see “Love the Loop“) and still believe it should somehow thrive. The first manager, BB Deng, had the music and vibe down, while the second manager, Weiley Lu, did some impressive things with the food and wine menus: it felt like a convergence of the two would have pushed the place over the top. Plus, it was where I had my first dope wine. Anyway, it doesn’t matter, as Lu says The Loop will be taken over by the property management and possibly used for a school. At least they have everything needed for the mocktail classes. And if they want someone to do a Firefly screening, I can help out.
Lu says the Sanlitun venue will focus more on food, and feature an open kitchen, though he does plan an extensive wine list. Look for it to open in July. And look for the current venue to close its door this weekend. Saturday will be the last official day, though it might also be open on Sunday, stocks willing.
