Champagne Bar in the Fairmont Hotel will mark Earth Hour on March 31 with an “unplugged” night. Expect acoustic music, half-price drinks from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM and free “glow in the dark” cocktails during the lights-out period from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. From 9 PM, the Fairmont is also featuring a three-course candlelit dinner in steakhouse The Cut for rmb299.
Home Plate Bar-B-Q will celebrate its win as The Beijinger’s “restaurant of the year” with a party on Saturday afternoon. Get smoking-hot value with pulled pork sandwiches and Slow Boat beers at a mere rmb10 each from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Word is that hugs from “personality of the year” Seth Grossman will be free.
Also on Saturday, Great Leap Brewery will hold a chili cook-off from 4 PM to 8 PM, with tickets RMB120 at the door. According to the Great Leap website, there will be ten cooks and, I am guessing more than a pint or two of draft.
Pudao Wines has switched the 20 wines in the enomatic machines, with the focus now on oaked and unoaked Chardonnays and “old world” and “new world” Cabernet blends. There are also a handful of “adopted sons”, wines from grapes made famous far from their origins, such as Carmenere, Zinfandel, Malbec and Pinotage.

Looking forward to Saturday! I’ve already spread the word to my colleagues, its going to be yummy.
Seth is such a man slut. What is he celebrating? Winning ROTY or being single and ready to mingle. :)
