Taps: German bar to open with DIY draft in B1 of Luga’s Villa

The basement of Luga’s Villa has been gutted like a freshly slaughtered Black Forest cake as part of its eventual transformation into a German-themed establishment. I have been referring to this as Operation 99 Luftgas Balloons but will now change it to Taps, given that will be the place’s name, says Stefan Schober, a partner in the establishment.

Schober says Taps will be a German grill and bar, with the menu including sausages, schnitzel and the like and both bottled and draft German beers. (And a Riesling or two, I hope!) Schober says to expect a more modern design than is found in many German establishments about town and that Taps will be “more bar than restaurant“, with the pool table and TVs — tuned regularly to German football — sticking around.

One key feature will be tables fitted with DIY draft beer taps, though these might not be ready for the tentative opening date of May 1. As for that space out front, Schober says it will be a “BBQ corner“.

Das sounds gut! Looking forward to trying out those beer taps.
