Czech It Out: Dinner and drinks at Irresistible Cafe
Dinners featuring Chinese or Japanese, Spanish or French, Italian or Russian cuisine are pretty common in Beijing. But those focused on the culinary fare of the Czech Republic? Not so many. Even so, Cafe Irresistible is holding its second Czech dinner, on September 8 from 7 PM, and at what looks like an irresistible price of RMB80 given the menu lists the following:
- A “beer platter” with cheese, ham, black bread, and more
- A bottle of Budvar lager
- Cucumber and sour cream salad
- Carrot, apple, and pineapple salad [Pineapple? - Ed]
- “Szeged style” goulash
- Rice
- Mashed potatoes
- Palacinka, described as a “Czech-style pancake with organic yoghurt and wild honey”
- Tvaroh, described as “cheesecake with strudel-style apple topping”
If you want extra bottles of Budvar or to pound shots of Becherovka liqueur, you can order them from the drinks menu. Irresistible Cafe and its courtyard (see photo below) are in Mao’er Hutong near Nanluoguxiang (see map). To reserve a spot for the dinner, call Filip at 13910-016-827 or Marian at 15810-271-734.
