Beer break: Danger Doyle’s brings prices back to safer zone

Danger Doyle’s more than doubled many of its beer prices a few months ago and, not surprisingly, lost many of its customers. A bottle of VB, for example, suddenly cost RMB65 instead of the original RMB30. This despite VB being available for RMB25 just down  the street at The Den.

Since then, DD has hired a new general managerDaniel Khoo, previously at Face Bar — and there has been some relief with the beer prices.  While VB — and other beers such as James Boag’s and Cascade — remain at RMB65, all bottled beer is two-for-one, all day, every day, during March. Draft Guinness is now priced more competitively, at RMB55 per pint, and there are various discounts on mixed drinks.

DD’s is also offering a set lunch. Salad, soup, dessert, coffee or soda, and choice of fish and chips or bangers and mash for RMB48. There is also an RMB88 dinner special as well as several new pizzas on offer.

    @ Wendy,

They didn’t mention any St. Patrick Day offers, though they already have signs up to let people know that day is coming up.

yeah thats all good and well- better prices, lunch specials etc etc..But what is their ladies night plan? The only place in beijing that doesnt have one is my dry cleaners and any day now there will be a ‘clean one blouse get one free’ night. Frankly unless this lot are prepared to top Lugas ladies night for a whole month they simply dont stand a chance.

    Plus their pool table sucks.

a step in the right direction I suppose; but judging by the desolate look the place has now (at least the last couple of times i’ve put my head round the door anyway) there’s a long, long way to go to get back to last year’s heyday.

55 kuai for a Guinness is still way too bloody expensive, with Union being a 5 minute walk away. I’d gladly keep walking to save 60 kuai over two drinks…

    @ dj chunky,

clean one blouse, get one free. hmmm, that might actually work…

    cheers, boyce

    @ Long way,

Agree, they really have some work to do. Even with the deck — it’s a great space, but you need people to get groups in, etc.

    Cheers, boyce

    @ Charlie,

True, though that only applies until 8 PM at Union. And I do hear there will probably be a price increase there.

    Cheers, boyce
