The weekend ahead: Dirty deeds, bikinis, free-flow wine, and more

Stuff coming up this weekend…

As noted in this post, Beijiing’s AC/DC cover band Dirty Deeds will reunite for one show at Yugong Yishan (map) this Saturday from 10 PM.

Fans of new Workers Stadium hideaway Fubar (map): The place will close Friday, Saturday, and Sunday due to government preparations for October 1 (see the new metal fence topped with barbed wire). On a positive note, until September 17, the Stella draft and mixed drinks will be RMB20 – superb value given the house pours are the likes of 42 Below (try the honey-flavored version with ginger ale).

The “decorate” sign is down at Cheers (map) and the chalkboard states the place will have live music Friday and Saturday. Say it’s so…

Block 8 (map) threatens to tear the fabric of the universe by merging two powerful forces  – all-you-can-drink and bikinis. The booze-fest is Friday at Ruby Khi, from 9 PM to 2 AM, at RMB220 for the Speedo set and RMB180 for the fairer sex. The bikini contest will be held upstairs at The Beach.

If the weather is nice, Saturday will be a nice time to drink wine in the sedate courtyard of the downtown branch of Palette Vino (map). The deal is free-flow Italian wine, plus tapas, from 5 PM to 8:30 PM for RMB100.

Note: On Monday, I will post Pete Demola’s list of the top five live music acts in Beijing. See here for Demola’s list of the five most promising young bands.
