Um, like none.
Far be it from me to complain given I haven’t had a TV since the 2006 World Cup, which means my movie watching has been limited to flights (saw the horrible movie Bottle Shock on the last one) or TUN during those six weeks the place showed flicks on Sundays, though those were all oldies but goodies (example: Slapshot).
Anyway, Scott Sykes at 36pr.com asked me which bars would show the Oscars and I figured I could do a quick check tonight and find at least a few. But Facebook, 7 Days, The Beijinger forum, the City Weekend events section, etc turned up nothing. I guess if you are a movie fan, the bar scene’s performance is the equivalent of Ishtar. Anyway, if anyone does find a place that is showing the awards, please let me know.

the south african feed doesnt have it, just went thru all the channels at the den- apparently its always on hbo but not this year.
Boycey,
The reason why nobody had it on is because it was not available live here. the fist televised show will be on Wednesday at 9pm starworld I believe, if we get enough interest we will show it on the big screens.

@ shane c,
My bad. The only TV I have is a nice plasma unit still in the box that my landlord dropped off last week and that still isn’t hooked up, so I wasn’t able to do any channel surfing.
Thanks for the info!
Cheers, boyce
@ Glenn,
Still, I’m surprised no one is organizing a screening – and throwing down a red carpet, Champagne deals, and so on. As much as I don’t like watching sports at All-Star, this seems like something perfect for that venue.
Cheers, boyce
The reasons why nobody is showing it LIVE here is because international TV station is not allowed to show it (rights were only given to local stations). BBC will get it, but BBC World would not get it. Same reason why during the Olympics CCTV has 7 channels showing the games, except CCTV 4 or 9 the international channel.
The only luck you could try for next year is that if your satellite carries Hong Kong’s TVB Pearl, then you might be able to get it.
