The Chinalyst Blog Awards: Yes, we can!

nd did!

Thanks to everyone who voted for this site in the Chinalyst China Blog Awards and helped it win top honors in the best personal blog for 2008 category. (The wine blog I administer – Grape Wall of China – did well to place fourth in the business blog category.)

I plan to celebrate the victory by spending the prize money on a stretch limousine to help lessen my taxi expenses (prize money to be confirmed), by writing a tell-all book about how I accumulated the 260 votes needed to win (that translates to one vote per – wait a second, checking the calculator – 5 million people in China), and by buying a drink for runner-up Thomas Crampton who got out of the gate late (yes, I’m willing to forgive his trash talk – those smiley faces don’t fool me!).

All kidding aside, thanks to those who voted. This blog is the sum of its writers – and I use the plural because so many other people contribute with guest posts – and its readers. Cheers!

(Note: I also post on Twitter here and Facebook here.)

Wanted ad: Kooky Panda seeks office mates

This might interest those seeking office space or a venue to store bar or restaurant stuff such as stools, sofas, and spirits*: Kooky Panda, a company run by Chopschticks guy Richard Robinson, has warehouse space available. Writes Robinson:

Our mobile game company, Kooky Panda, just recently moved into a terrific two-story loft space in a 530 square meter warehouse. We’re located in the Dong Feng Art District which is in a cool old railway yard just 2 km east of the East 4th Ring Road and a few km south of Da Shan Zi. The loft has an open, fun layout with skylights plus a slide and a fire pole (can also be used to pole dance off some stress).

A map and photos are available here.

Robinson says 400 square meters of warehouse space – complete with Internet and power outlets – is up for grabs, with a minimum of 50 square meters per customer. The cost is RMB1.8 per square meter per day (does not include kooky, or any other, pandas). For more info, contact him at richard.robinson@kookypanda.com.

* My apartment is also an alternative for the latter and I will include free taste testing of said liquids for a small fee.
