Celebrity Pub Crawl is back: Win two Kylie Minogue concert tickets, two bottles of Yarrabank sparkling rose
Two tickets to see the “princess of pop” and two bottles of bubbly from her homeland – that’s what’s up for grabs as we resurrect the Celebrity Pub Crawl series.
Simply leave a comment and tell us which Beijing bar or club you would take Kylie Minogue to during her visit to our fair city – and why. Everyone who leaves a reasonable suggestion will have his or her name entered into a winner-take-all draw for:
- Two tickets to Kylie’s December 1 concert at Workers Gymnasium, courtesy of mypiao.com (each ticket is valued at RMB780)
- Two bottles of Yarrabank Crème du Cuvee sparkling rose, courtesy of The Wine Republic, to loosen you up for the show (each bottle is valued at RMB429)
(By the way, mypiao informs that users can choose their seats online for this concert.)
The deadline for entries is Monday, November 17 at 5:30 PM. I’ll announce the winner the next day. (You need to have a daytime address to which i can courier the tickets and wine).
Don’t forget the Name That Beer contest ends tomorrow!

Destination — she’d get a ton of attention and none of the patrons would want to go home with her.
would love to take kylie to alfa on friday night; we can dance our hearts out and show her that beijing knows how to have a great time!!! after that, hit up my mao livehouse for some awesome live music!!!
12m bar – so i could get up close and personal.
I would class it up a bit and head over to Mesh – good Aussie Coopers and Bundaberg Ginger Beer along side decent Martini’s and bar tenders with a smile (would make sure to drop in first to get them to lower the temperature of their fridges so the beers were actually cold, not room temp).
After Kylie wraps up her concert, I would take her to Q Bar for their quality cocktails and eclectic/electronic ambience, and then we move on to White Rabbit where she can dance into the wee hours with an even more eclectic crowd!
I would take Kylie to the LONG MARCH BAR at THE CHINA CLUB – I imagine she would want to indulge in a bit of stylish culture and history during her stay…
Susie Wong’s because no one else has mentioned it yet.. and we’ll fit right in!!
Kokomo. Perfect combination of band, music and drinks. Everyone could see the moon, see the surrounding buildings in salitun, and see the fabulous Kylie. What might be left are dancing, enjoyment, and wow.
Coco Banana – While not the classiest of places it attracts a large Chinese crowd. Part of the fun of being abroad are the diverse cultural interactions possible.
Face bar. It’s warm and mystical.
My place. Enough said.
China Bar at the top of the new Park Hyatt, but on the condition that she pays for the drinks and that she not be overcome with emotion at the amazing cityscape views, because, you know, I have a girlfriend.
Just get her tanked at Nanjie,,,,,,,then watch her Salsa across the street..wow , i am a true romantic.
Seeing as no-one has said it yet, it has to be Bed Bar, after all, when else would you have the chance to climb into bed with Kylie!
i think she’s been around the block enough times to have seen it all… I’d take her to Giyan for a completely different experience and then down to nanluoguxiang for a stroll
I’d take her to Bed. It’s nice and calming in a hutongy kind of way. After we got to know each other a little better we’d decide on which dance club we want to go to. I like the suggestion of going to Destination, but of course I would want to know what she wants.
A walk around Hoahai for some site seeing, food and tea. Then I’d take her to a Chinese music bar to experience some local culture. The Yunnan (Can’t remember name)one near the drum and bell tower is an option. Or the one down the hutong lane from Nanluoguxiang past the school of Drama and Peng Hao Theater, can be interesting ;-P
OK, I don’t want to state the obvious, but…
Cheers.
Minogue doing shots of Wild Turkey, kicking ass on the pool table, and grooving (and perhaps singing) to live Xinjiang music.

I would have to go 33 bar. It provides an intimate environment (there would be no other patrons even on that night and there is only space for one party of guests), the biggest LP collection in Beijing (as a musician herself, Kylie might want to pick the music and they encourage this), the quirkiest and most artistic design of any bar in the city – again centered on music, and the best selection of scotch. Since she may not be a scotch drinker, they also have champagne. Did I just give away the best spot in the city? Anyway, I would also be impressing her with my knowledge of Beijing since it is in an area that seems completely obscure to outsiders.
I would actually take Kylie to Nanluoguxiang… she’s been in the best clubs all over the world, I’m sure she’d actually prefer to see some cool/local flavah. Another possibility is to see Green T for the post show dinner/drinks (I dunno about her, but I’m always starving after a show) and then on to either a local hutong-y place like NLGX/Bed Bar or to a ritzy place/club like Lan or the new Tang Hui in Block 8.
The main point is: she’s the diva, its best to come up with like, 8 options, and she which one she’s in the mood for night of ;)
Block8 — glitzy, glittering eye candy in this high energy club. What could be a better fit for Kylie? The place is pricey but that’s no problem since she’ll be picking up the tab. We can even pop over for some expensive sushi if she’s peckish.
I’d take her to White Rabbit, where she can rub elbows and get down with Beijing’s most clued in electro music connoisseurs and late night dance freaks.
I would take her to Cheers to see her get up on stage with the Xinjiang boys, to do a northwest version of Locomotion.
Hey Nels, I’ve never heard of 33 bar, where is it? Are you actually talking about a bar or your own apartment, I can’t tell from the tone of your comment.
Bed, since she has probably never been to a traditional Chinese bed. Romantic enough even if don’t do anything there.
I’d say Destination – When She’s in Sydney, Oxford Street is the ideal place for her to be,and she’s worshipped by the community Why not try in Beijing, she’ll surely have a good time!
33 is a real bar, not far from the art museum. I don’t even have a turntable.
She probably will end up at Block 8 or Lan.
First, we’d go to the Q bar for a lychee martini. Then we’d head to the Song, those stairs are the perfect setting for a Kylie dance routine!
