Eggs and votes: Tomorrow’s U.S. election coverage

Only one of these guys gets to spend the next four years blaming America's problems on the RMB.

Nearly two years of both intense political scrutiny and ready-made material for Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show, and David Letterman comes to an end tomorrow as the United States holds its presidential election. Earlier this week, I not only shared a dream in which Thomas Jefferson appeared, but also mentioned some places to watch tomorrow’s election coverage (and, if you have your laptop, to enter my contest):

Andrew from Mobile Native reports that Frank’s Place will start coverage from 7:30 AM and offer a breakfast deal, while the Goose n’ Duck will have both CNN and Fox coverage.

The Beijinger says that the The Bridge Cafe in Wudaokou will be showing coverage from 7:30 AM.

And Gleann Phealan says Paddy O’Shea’s will have a breakfast buffet from 8 AM for RMB58 (includes tea or coffee) and will show Premier League replays hurling Lucky Charms commercials election coverage.

By the way, I don’t want to swing the election, but I heard that if Obama Barack wins, the Boston Red Sox will never win another World Series. Or is if it John McCain wins. Can’t remember which…

Here are the venues I listed Sunday night:

Sequoia Cafe (Guanghua Road) will show CNN coverage, starting from 7:30 AM. According to the invite, “Watch the results on the big screen throughout the day including breakfast and lunch.” For more info, call 6501-5503 or 13701-178-073.

The Saddle Cantina also pops its doors at 7:30 PM AM and will have big coffees for RMB20, while The Rickshaw is mulling a breakfast deal (I’ll update as info arrives).

The American Chamber of Commerce election event is 8 AM to 1:30 PM at Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel (RMB100 members, RMB250 nonmembers). Expect CNN coverage, a mock vote, and “a balloon drop when the next president of the United States is announced.” Proper ID is needed: see this invite for details.

(If I can get out of bed, I’m going to blog this thing live. My keyboard will be a bloody mess of bacon grease, bread crumbs, and coffee stains by the time I’m done.)
