Coming up: The yet-to-be-named bar
China View is often associated with Hooters, but more than a dozen bars and restaurants have opened in this complex in the past year, including Purple Haze, Bella’s, Pullman Steak, 66 North, Amethyst, Klubb Rouge, and Red Ocean Butterflies.
I mentioned yesterday that Italian restaurant Alba has opened in back of China View. Today, I spotted two more places as I walked past:
AOZ
With its dark wood, plush chairs, and humidor, this place has the standard wine and cigar bar feel. Cocktails start at RMB48, while the wine list covers a single producer – Australia’s Drayton. Bottles range from RMB550 to RMB15000. I’ll pop in again and provide a more detailed report.
Yet-to-be-named
A huge sturdy bar and two large copper brewing tanks are the focal points of this cavernous place, which not only offers ample floor space but also three stories of wraparound balconies. Massive. Expect wood, wood, more wood, and brewing equipment. Word has it the bar’s name will be revealed during the opening – slated for mid-next week.

AOZ appears to be some sort of chain ready to take over the city. I’ve seen locations of this in Fulicheng (already open) and one not too far from the Shuangjing Carrefour. Seems to have some sort of Australian connection.
m-dawg,
i hope they aren’t following the same strategy as the China View branch by having about 10 wines – all from one producer – on the menu.
Cheers, Boyce
