Great, lots of scantily dressed girls pretending to be China dolls using the bar top as a stage. No sooner than the floor show finished than hundreds of thirsties punters descended on the bar. We finally secured some free champagnes (I suspect Moet, so a plus for that) but we soon realised that the only activity remining was to watch people watching people. We had had a tip that the new China Doll was open, so we bailed. China Doll was a whole lot better. The decor was much more interesting, and the space much more comfortable. KR's space is dominated by the bar, leaving little room for people, whereas the new China Doll actually caters for people. The music was more varied than KR's monotonous doof doof. The champagne didn't measure up to KR's, but the marguerita was reasonable. The alcohol highlight was the "stomach ache" - a concoction made with a gin base and a liqueur that I hadn't heard of before. Bottom line, I agree with you that CD is a warm, soft and delightful cavern, where KR is a pleasure lasting just minutes. As my lady friend said, KR is just a tarted up Suzie Wong. Boyce,
