Celebrity Pub Crawl II: Desperate Housewives
Coming to your neighborhood ((c) ABC)
Last week, about as many people contacted me to ask “Who are Crockett and Tubbs?” as entered the contest, so this week we’ll go with some current TV characters: Desperate Housewives.
Leave a comment about where you would take the wives - or an individual “wife”, if you like - and you’ll be entered in the weekly draw. (Frankly, I’m thinking Suzie Wong. No one would blink an eye if we sipped tequila from each other’s navels, plus imagine the cat fight potential. Then again, there’s Treasure Island. Choices, choices….)
The prizes:
- A bottle of Grace Vineyard Tasya’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Torres
- A package of four books - Insider’s Guide to Beijing 2008, Mandarin Phrasebook, Healthy Chinese Cuisine: A Restaurant Ordering Guide, and Spicy Chinese Cuisine: A Restaurant Ordering Guide - from Immersion Guides.
The deadline for entering the draw is Tuesday at noon. The winner will be announced the next day. (Note: I can only ship prizes to addresses in Beijing. One entry per week per person, please.)

a tongue-in-cheek tour of the established pick-up establishments would be in order here!
first stop at Aria for for their happy hour and cocktail-buffet. then, next stop would be centro as all 5 ladies are sporting dressed-to-kill type outfits.
After that, we’re on the the holy trinity of Salsa caribe, block 8 then suzie wongs… by then, too many poseurs around make it a necessity to retreat somewhere nice and have a little chit-chat about the night as well as freshen up. Finally, it will be time to enter the Lion’s den and go to Maggie’s.. ‘nuf said :D
Absentia - they look like Russian hookers in this photo.
How long can you keep on picking TV shows I have never watched?
Given my almost complete withdrawal from the world of ‘popular culture’, it may not be too difficult.
It seems appropriate, then, that I should nominate a bar I have never been to: Song.
I hear it’s spacious, artsy, expensive - all the kinds of thing that are likely to impress wealthy American chicks - but not so crowded and noisy as Centro or Suzie’s; a place where you could, perhaps, actually have a conversation.
Is the dark one Teri Hatcher? I’ll take her, please.
@ Badr,
Break out the wallet for that one.
@ jk,
I’ve never associated hookers with white picket fences, but to each his own.
@ froog,
Sorry, dude, but I am NOT picking the Smurfs.
Cheers, Boyce
Start dinner at Rumi where they can see and be seen amongst the beautiful people through the large mirror in the main dining hall. Then dessert at Bellagio for more people-watching with a different culture while slurping through thick straws for bubbles in tea and sage in mango. Then, these girls should hit Suzie Wong where they can give dagger looks to other girls who even dare to think they can compete. These divas will be at home in the opium-den-turns-modern club.
As anyone who has ever seen this show will tell you, you take these ladies to Bed.
Gracie,
You’re not getting any arguments here.
Cheers, Boyce
I’ve never seen The Smurfs either. Not a big thing in the UK: we got the annoying novelty songs, but I don’t think we ever picked up the TV series.
