Plastered T-shirts will take the Olympic spirit into the hutongs when it hosts a 100-metre sprint this Saturday to promote its new line of Games-wear. The race is part of a weekend party in Nanluoguxiang (near Houhai) that promises plenty of music, food and culture.

The 100-meter race and a fashion show are set for 7 PM at Plastered, with fire dancers performing a “warm up”, at 6:30 PM. See this map or contact plastered8@gmail.com / 13910-205-721 for details.

i was there. but it was not really something i expected. it’s toooo westernized to tell the truth.

I was there too but didn’t think the festival or the show was too westernized. I thought it was a nice mix - East meets West. I’m tired of foreigners trying to find the “true” China by searching out old men around Hou Hai playing chess and thinking they’ve had a real China “experience”. Today’s China is very dynamic and I think they did a good job of trying to bring something interesting and new to the area instead of allowing it to turn into a disgusting bar district like Hou Hai or run to the ground like Sanlitun.

To each his own but this festival-goer (and yes, I bought a t-shirt too) had a good time.

    Wide and Jane,

I wish I had gone - I ended up going on a seven-bar tour with a friend. Oh well, there’s always next year…

    Cheers, Boyce
