Together Bar: Rough and Reggae
Fifty-square meters of reggae fun, it’s on a rather dumpy street close to Le Cafe Igosso. Red clay brick, yellow stucco and a flat-black ceiling; pine furniture with meter-square tables draped in striped cloth; walls loaded with photos and posters of Bob Marley (and one of Bob Geldof). The raised-stone decoration on the floor in front of the faux fireplace is an accident waiting to happen (”Woah, dude, tendons showing!”). M-Dawg and I were the only customers but, to be fair, there was a sandstorm raging outside. We talked to the owner about everything from marketing to counterfeit booze. Tip number one: know when thy patron’s glass is empty. Qingdao 10; Budweiser: 25; Gin and Tonic: 25.

why didn’t you talk to robin about his passion for reggae? its what the bar is all about. not marketing and counterfeit booze, but how reggae appeals to him since it conveys a message that one can better one’s life through diligence and spirituality. you might not agree, but your piece on together bar says nothing about the whole concept behind it, the inspirations and aspirations of its owner.

Fair enough if they didn’t explain well… but this article couldn’t be further from what that bar his!
Lets’take the bad stuff out first:
The owners (robin and judy) went a long way since they open showing how OPEN minded they are themself… service as improved every day since i started to go there…always prepared to adapt their understanding of service to the international standards.
for the Empty drinks i for one, Canadian barman, have my views on the “sell more and serve me more” concept!! but they take a stand in not serving you when you had to much nor rushing you in drinking… NOT from fear of the costumer but from respect and togetherbar’s concept of chilling a place!
PRICES: i had long talks and debates on price with robin and judy and past my point across, i believe as since end of 2006 we beneficiate from an spirit mixer of 15RMB, 10rmb BEER, and a generous 5rmb off every extra 1oZ you put in your glass….wich made the now famous 3x vodka redbull MUG for 40RMB….Try to top that anywhere???
ACCIDENTS: That we can count on Judy for that she is always alert on potencial Problem and yet when Robin diffuse the ever so rare fight, judy is quick and always aware….to my dis-pleasure sometimes as she never let a joint being smoked…she’s too good! hehe!!!
CONCEPT: it’s as important part, it’s a family play if they had kid the kid would be running around! if you like the place you become a member of that family…so it’s up to what you are looking for. Robin love for reggae is impressive and if you know reggae he’ll have sting to say about it! the majority of customers though aren’t the best at it and sometimes music go out of that scope but it’s only to please the family!
on this it’s not for everybody and WE LIKE IT LIKE THAT!

Because nobody know when does the demolish start. no news till right now.
but who knows.
Live Cam had be stop by some hardware problem.
We add projector to play reggae movies documentary every night 7pm or even on demand (if i’m here, when you come just ask me)
we have a WII game machine, which is very good for people share their game fun but not only holding you in front of the TV long time. (we sold out ps2 and bought a WII recently)
Every Thursday MAT bring music and once a month for seletor BOO, sometime african music .

Price:
Qingdao is 15rmb (Everything is getting more expensive)
but a Pint of Carsberlg is only 20rmb, 3liters mini keg only 100rmb, i guess that’s the cheapest good draught in town. we sold almost 1Keg in 2days or 1day, so it’s very fresh.
3X vodka + soft drink or Juice in a Pint glass is still 35rmb

Hey everyone, together bar is having a summer special from the 21st of may til the 30th of july, so if you finish work or classes after 5 (opening time) and want to cool off for the summer, we are doing 10 kuai tsingtao, 15 kuai heineken beers same price for carlsberg drafts, as well as 5 kuai off of all triple mixers, putting 3xg&t’s and 3xscrewdrivers at just 30 kuai. so the times are from 5-8pm everyday. drop by for some drinks, some chill music or just to chat, the sun is shining and the weather is sweet
