A Somewhat Young China Hand on the Local Drinking Scene

Haggis? Capital!

I go to a lot of events and was much impressed by the well-organized launch party last month for a Dezan Shira book on investing in Northeast China. Five largely entertaining speakers — “The Chinese like a win-win situation, meaning they win twice” — were efficiently squeezed into a 40-minute briefing at the Capital Club and then we all enjoyed a buffet that included Scottish favorites, such as haggis and blood pudding (Dezan Shira’s Chris Devonshire-Ellis and Graham Thompson, and the Capital Club chef, hail from the land of Sean Connery). Business and haggis may never have been brought together more effectively in Beijing.

Chris always knows how to put on a good event, his recent China-India ones have been pretty cool too
